Original or Fake Tyres

OKay, so I live in a region where counterfeits are common.

I want to buy some new tyres for my car but my friends keep telling me to beware of counterfeits tyres, these are made locally in a small workshop where fake brands, packaging etc is used to sell the tyres at a higher price, since they imitate an international brand.

My question is.. is there a way to figure out the difference between e.g. an original Michelin and a fake one?

It is very difficult to tell the difference between a fake and a real one.

I have lived in thailand for a couple of months and I know how confusing it can get.

However, the only thing you can do is to buy from an authorized dealer. It might be expensive but that's what you are paying for, the real stuff.

Also, if you have ever seen original tyres you can compare them side by side, at that moment, the difference is very clear. The package quality, tyre girth etc are much better in an original.
